You might ask
yourself, what is spiritual practice?
With other words, spiritual practice is doing something on a
daily base to make each day more meaningful and satisfying. You will achieve
wholeness, depth and you will re-connect with your deeper
divine self.
Isn’t it so that many people associate with the word "practice",
unrewarded labor , joyless time and countless hours spent while struggling to achieve master skills?
It is paradox, but
while working on structure and discipline, even if it seems on it surface your
freedom is restricted , the true’s is that you will gain the freedom to
become much more joyful with yourself.
Spiritual exercise does not have to be only meditation, sitting
Zen, yoga, praying, chanting. It can be
painting, writing poems, jogging, gardening, charitable giving, crafting,
baking, and hiking, playing an instrument, Chi Gong, Tai Chi, or even golfing,
just to name a few. It is not so much about what you do; it is more
the time you spent within and its connective quality.
Important is that you practice it frequently on daily designated
time over and over again. Without the aim of stopping it, your practice
contributes your personal growth. Well and of course, while "practicing” different
emotions might arise, one day it can feel beautiful and alluring, the other day
you might feel bored, annoyed and its
niggling you , but you have to overcome this emotions. Over all it should
become your “rock in the storm” steady and reliable.
You think this all sounds great but how do I do it? Well
first you have to recognize for yourself that spiritual practice is essential
and you have to do something. Second you have to designate a certain time and
stick to it, even if you might have to give up something else to keep it alive.
Benefits:
- It lifts up your mood
- It grounds you and creates a sense of steadiness
- It connects you and reveals your true spirit
- It lets you live the moment
- It keeps you tuned and focused in the simplicity of a moment
